The Granary is a cosy, characterful and comfortable barn conversion offering an 'away from it all' relaxing peaceful break in a tranquil and beautiful setting with plenty of tea rooms and pubs, whilst at the same time offering easy access to all the attractions and amenities of the popular but much busier tourist areas.
The Granary is ideally situated for ACTIVITY BREAKS in the Lake District. Enjoy cycle-rides among fantastic scenery, fishing and sailing on Bassenthwaite Lake and walks start from the cottage door - the Cumbria Way passes nearby.
Bassenthwaite Lake 3 miles, Keswick on Derwentwater 9 miles (15-20 minutes drive), Grasmere in the heart of the Lakes is only 40 mins drive away. Also, easily accessed are Buttermere, Crummock Water, Ennerdale, Loweswater, Wastwater & Ullswater. Ambleside & Windermere 3/4 to 1hr drive. Seaside 30 minutes.
The Granary also provides a central base for touring not only the Lake District, but the Solway Firth, S.W Scotland & The Borders and Hadrian's Wall.
The cottage is situated up a quiet 'green' lane and enjoys uninterrupted views over open farmland to Skiddaw, one of England's highest mountains, as well as the Uldale/Caldbeck fells. Nearby, Binsey fell offers stunning 360 DEG views, which must be difficult to beat, taking in not only the Lake District panorama, but also the Solway Firth and the Galloway hills in S.W. Scotland.
It is hard to believe that such peace and quiet exists
such a short distance from the heavy tourist areas.
Sit on the patio and listen to the silence.
Enjoy the best of both worlds.
